The Ironwood burl that made this Sun Dad survived a major fire that swept through the hills of Malibu in 1985. The combination of contrasting textures from the rosy smooth fiery inside and the burnt rough and raw extinguished outside have been flipped to represent a star thats extinguished core is still surrounded by layers of burning hydrogen. The burl used was milled on a table saw, then cut and composed around the details on the surface of each piece.
Measures 6.5" wide, 5.5" tall, and 0.5" thick. The back is drilled and a nail is included for hanging.
